Workshop Moulding

Moulding

Mould making is an ancient & sometimes essential tradition that is now used throughout society. From medical applications through to film set creation & of course as part of the process of translating artworks into different mediums, objects are cast in resins, metals or more ephemeral materials like ice or chocolate. In our workshop, we employ many mould making methods for all kinds of applications. We work for many artists, film companies & the retail & manufacturing industries whilst enjoying the challenges that are constantly being brought to us!

Please download our quote form & email it to us if you have a casting enquiry. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Here are some of the methods that we employ...

Plaster Waste Moulding
An ancient mould making method that is quick, inexpensive & sometimes the most appropriate for those one offs. We particularly employ this method when casting clothing for instance, where the weight of a rubber application would change the form of the surface.

Plaster or Resin Piece Moulding
Used extensively for industrial applications, piece moulding is perfect for when larger items need to be cast, like boats or items of furniture.

Rubber Moulding
Using a whole array of appropriate rubbers for the materials that are going to be used in them, our workshop creates rubber moulds with plaster or resin cases for all different shapes & sizes.

Rotary Moulding
Again, mostly used for industrial application, this is an exciting mould making process for artists as well. We create moulds for rotary casting according to your needs. Just let us know how many holes you will need & where, then we will create it for your rotary machine. This technology is great for those big installations of multiples & relatively inexpensive when casting in liquid plastic as the casting process is so quick! Please see Stephen Melton's work for the kind of aesthetic one can achieve.

Investment Moulds
A mould making process specifically used when casting in metal, employing the lost wax method. Using the grog & ludo investment process, we can translate many burnable objects directly into bronze. For more information visit our bronze casting page.

All the above moulds would be suitable for your own use, but if you would like us to use them to cast your works in either bronze, aluminium or plastics, just let us know.
